Women in the Wild

September 13-16, 2012

Experience the magic and beauty of the Blacktail Ranch for a long weekend of horseback riding and gentle yoga. There will be time for walking in the hills, fishing in the South Fork of the Dearborn River, taking naps, enjoying the views from the hot tub or simply being. You will spend your days exploring the wilds of Montana and return to the warmth and comfort of the lodge at night.

for Registration, please call us at: 406-235-4330

Balance is the key to riding. Horses feel every move we make when we are astride and react to every unbalanced moved, however subtle. Yoga teaches us how to recognize our unbalanced moves and correct them. With more attuned body awareness we can clearly see where our weight is shifting and understand what the horse is feeling. A balanced confident rider creates a balanced confident horse and a more comfortable ride for both.

Morning Yoga sessions will gently awaken the body and tune our awareness toward inner balance. Afternoon sessions will be quieting and deeply restorative. We invite you to join us for the yoga sessions in the octagonal Hogan with broad views of wilderness and beyond.

This is the time of year when Elk enter their breeding season (the rut) and the haunting sounds of the Bull Elk bugling can be heard in the valley of the Blacktail. We'll take evening rides to watch the sun set across the Great Divide and, if we are lucky, listen to the bugle of Elk.

This workshop embraces the feminine and is a time for nurturing your Self. The Blacktail serves nourishing and wholesome food and can accommodate most special diets. There is a hot tub, comfortable main lodge, Ranch museum and small store for all to experience during their stay.

Co-owner of the Blacktail Ranch, Sandra Renner, will host this weekend workshop. Sandra knows the history of the Ranch, the lay of the land, all the horses and anything you need to know about the Blacktail. You are always in good hands, if they are Sandra's!

Kim Erica Schleicher, RYT 500, has been practicing yoga for most of her life. She is the Program Director for the Feathered Pipe Foundation and teaches classes at the Dancing Lotus Center in Helena, Montana. Kim has owned horses and spent part of the last 17 summers at the Blacktail Ranch.

Raised in Montana our wrangler, Jen Acacia Mittlelstadt, has been around horses most of her life. She was President of the Equestrian Team for the University of Montana until her graduation in 2010. She has worked for Paws Up Outfitting for the past two years.
