One of the biggest highlights of my vacation at the Blacktail Ranch was exploring the Blacktail Cave and other Native American sites and learning about the rich archaeological history of Central Montana and the Blacktail Ranch. The experience of being far below the earth's surface was like no other I have ever had. I can not wait to return.
Liz. C. from PennsylvaniaCome join us this August for the Blacktail Ranch Field School. A Field School is a unique learning experience as well as a hands on adventure into the science of Archaeology. Professional Archaeologist Rick and Sandy Martynec are leading the exploration to survey, and record ancient sites here on the Blacktail and surrounding area. We will also be returning to the Hoon Buffalo Jump for further excavation. Participants will be spending several hours in the field each day and be provided with the specialized tools instruction and equipment necessary to do an archeological dig. Minimum age required to attend the Field School is 14. No previous Archeological experience is necessary, just genuine interest in the work and the willingness to get dirty.

The 7-day Field School experience includes, lodging in The Main Lodge, 3 meals per day and all instruction associated with The Field School. Upgrades to a private cabin are available.
