One of the biggest highlights of my vacation at the Blacktail Ranch was exploring the Blacktail  Cave and other Native American sites and learning about the  rich archaeological history of Central Montana and the Blacktail Ranch. The experience of being far below the earth's surface was like no other I have ever had. I can not wait to return.

Be a part of history! Come join our Field School this summer at the Blacktail Ranch. A Field School is a unique learning experience as well as a hands on adventure into the science of Archaeology. Professional Archaeologist Rick and Sandy Martynec are digging to find the ancient entrance to the cave. They will be setting up a professional lab in the  to examine artifacts. We are all hoping to discover more about the native peoples who called the Blacktail home in prehistoric times. Participants will be spending several hours in the field each day and be provided with the specialized tools and equipment necessary to do an archeological dig.  Minimum age required to attend the Field School is 14.  No previous Archeological experience is necessary, just  genuine interest in the work and the willingness to get dirty.

Session will be offered in 2010.
